Chapter 2: Chamber of Fears

After making his mark in the NBA during his rookie season LeBron James was ready to continue the progression. Of course a new season meant it was time for a new shoe. The Zoom LeBron 2 hit retailers on November 6, 2004. Only available in three colorways. The 2 was the first LeBron to introduce a strap. Chinese influence was a big influence on the design of the shoe. So was the attention to detail. The laser sketching on the shoe gave it a very unique design. The low top design also proved to be very popular. In his sophomore season we saw LeBron become more marketable. Nike launched the manga inspired "Chamber of Fear" series. LeBron is seen as a young warrior going through different stages to achieve a goal. It drew inspiration from hip-hop and old school Kung-Fu films.

The special "Chamber of Fear" player edition never actually hit retailers. Twenty four pairs were given to friends and family. Recently Nick Young was seen wearing a pair on the court.

That season LeBron continued to live up to "the hype." Averaging 27.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and also a starter in the 2005 NBA all-star game. Leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to 42-40. Just one spot short of a playoff birth. Still, another successful year for the King.

Look below for pics of LeBron sporting the shoe.
